Kangaroo Class
We are a class of 10 children, made up of 5 boys and 5 girls, all in Years 2 and 3. We are a lively, happy cohort who love playing and exploring both indoors and outdoors, whatever the weather.
We enjoy lots of sensory exploration with a range of songs and movement breaks throughout the day. We provide opportunities for children to work 1:1 or in small groups with familiar adults, while also developing independence through structured bay work. We come together as a class for circle time’s and bucket time’s throughout the day, helping to develop shared attention and engagement.
Communication underpins everything we do and is woven throughout all areas of learning. We use Makaton, symbols and pictures to support communication and help children identify and share their needs and wants.
We love making use of the fantastic facilities our school has to offer, including swimming, soft play, the light room, trampoline sessions, and a particular favourite – rebound therapy. We continue to work on using visual schedules to support transitions around school with increasing confidence and independence.
Our curriculum is varied, engaging and meaningful, ensuring learning is fun while supporting each child’s individual needs.
