Giraffe Class

 

Welcome to Giraffe Class! We are a class of eight pupils; three boys and five girls ranging in ages from four to ten.

We have lots of fun during our day! We start with our morning physiotherapy stretches, which help to get us ready for learning, then we all have an individual song during our ‘Good Morning’ session to say hello. Our days are very busy indeed! We might have hydrotherapy, a sensory story, rebound therapy, TACPAC session or explore all our senses in sensology. Not to mention trips to the light room, soft play and the hall for physical education.

Taking care to include postural management throughout the day helps us to always be comfortable and ready to explore. All our physical needs are dovetailed into everything we do. We work on our key skills and communication skills throughout the day, both in groups, one to one and incorporated into all our interactions. We include intensive interaction strategies into lots of our sessions to help the pupils learn that they have an effect on their environment and to encourage the development of early communication skills. Our curriculum is very sensory based and therefore we are often getting very messy exploring a variety of textures or creating our own master pieces in art 

We love music, singing and having a great time while we learn!
