About Us

Forest Park School is a Hampshire local authority maintained special school.  We provide education for children and young people aged 2-19 years with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties.  In addition, the majority of our pupils have co-existing conditions such as Autism, Down Syndrome and physical disabilities.

Forest Park is split across two sites, one mile apart.  The Primary School is a purpose-built special school in Ringwood Road Totton and caters for around 100 pupils.  The Secondary School is in Commercial Road Totton, catering for around 40 young people with the most profound and complex learning difficulties.

The school has a dedicated team of teaching and support staff with a wide range of experience and expertise in teaching and supporting pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties.

In school we are supported by and work in collaboration with, a range of professionals including School Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.

At Forest Park we create a positive environment for learning through a culture of high expectation, supported by our mission statement of ‘opening the door to what’s possible’.  Through our core values of ‘communication’, ‘independence’, ‘aspiration’, ‘resilience’ and ‘respect’ we support and develop our children and young people to excel in all areas of their development and be ready for the next significant phase in their life.

The school’s ambition is to create a child centred, personalised approach to learning that begins with each child and young persons individual needs.  Through a creative, practical and fun learning environment we aim to offer a meaningful and relevant curriculum tailored to individual need.

Pupils at Forest Park enjoy school and contribute positively to the whole school community.  They are encouraged to be independent at every opportunity, confident and show pride and enjoyment in their learning and that of others.
